Palms Las Vegas is undergoing the most expensive renovation project in Las Vegas Strip history. The three-phase renovation will be finished by 2019, though phase one debuts this summer.
Since it opened back in 2001, Palms Las Vegas has been a prime location for celebrities and TV appearances. Back in the early 2000s Palms welcomed celebrities like Britney Spears and Michael Phelps, who famously partied there. It has also seen TV appearances on reality shows like “Real World: Las Vegas” as well as “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”
Las Vegas constantly renews itself. Or better put, a group of well-heeled developers constantly renew the city. Since the grand casino and hotel opened, several newer and bigger resorts have opened, attracting celebrities and the young, rich crowd to their glitzy bars and nightclubs. These resorts have swankier, bi-level suites. and celebrity chef-helmed restaurants.
From 2005 to 2010, Las Vegas Boulevard hotels like Cosmopolitan of Vegas, Palazzo, and Wynn Las Vegas have caused Palms to become an afterthought to many.
Station Casinos Bought Palms Las Vegas
Now with new ownership, Station Casinos, Palms is undergoing a total overhaul. This makeover is estimated to cost an astounding $620 million, which qualifies as the largest resort renovation in Las Vegas history. As a comparison, Caesars Entertainment is spending nearly half of that amount, $350 million, between four properties: The Flamingo, Bally’s, Planet Hollywood and Caesar’s Palace.
The first part of the total renovation will be revealed next week. Several clubs inside the Palms Reno, including Camden cocktail lounge, APEX Social Club (formerly Ghostbar), Bar Unknown, Scotch 80 Prime steakhouse, will make their debut. So will a redesigned casino floor with a high-limit lounge and the Pearl concert theater.
The next step in the renovation will be a 29,000-square foot nightclub and 73,000-square-foot pool club. Both are scheduled to open in the spring of 2019. The two clubs were developed in partnership with TAO Group. The original TAO Vegas bring in more than $40 million a year making it the top-grossing restaurant in the world. Also on the schedule is a 20,000-square-foot spa.
Palms Las Vegas Restaurants
Palms is bringing high class food with the renovation, starting with celebrity chef Bobby Flay’s new seafood and sushi restaurant. ABC’s “The Chew” co-host Michael Symon’s is debuting a barbeque restaurant, which will be his first Vegas restaurant. James Beard winner Marc Ventri’s new Italian restaurant is set to open at the Palms. So will Tao Group’s NYC restaurant “Vandal”.
Palms Las Vegas Casino Floor
The Palms Las Vegas casino floor has had a complete renovation, including new chic lighting, wood ceiling fixtures, and bright carpet tones. There are over 40 new table games many of which feature charging outlets for technology run generation. The new floor features more than 1,100 video poker and slot machines with the latest games and popular themes all of which is centered around a dramatic new bar.
The casinos new and luxurious high limit gaming lounge filled with stunning artwork provides an intimate experience for Palms high-stakes guests.
Guests will be welcomed by lavish new landscaping decked with many Palm trees alongside a 126-foot-tall and a 60-foot by 54-foot dual-sided LED screen marquee. Most recently announced is the all-new VIP check-in lounge with a welcome into a luxurious retreat.
Palms Art Gallery
Currently in the works for the Las Vegas Palms is a new collection of contemporary and street art throughout the casino & hotel totaling more than 150 pieces of art on display. Some pieces include works by art legends Damien Hirst, Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and Dustin Yellin.
Tal Cooperman, the creative director at the art gallery, said, “We’re weaving a vast collection of contemporary, street and blue-chip art, many of which are rarely displayed publicly, throughout every aspect of the hotel.”
“We’re seeing more and more that guests are looking for a 360-degree experience. They want to be impressed visually and experientially. We are in a hyper-visual society that has created even more interest in art. The collection is created for this millennial generation.”
Pearl Theater and Live Nation
The newly renovated Pearl Theatre, in partnership with Live Nation, will host Blink-182’s first-ever Las Vegas rock residency, “Kings of the Weekend.” The 16-show run starts May 26 with dates available through November. Other leading acts on the table for this year at the Pearl will include Zac Brown Band, Halsey, Niall Horan, Charlie Puth and Alanis Morissette.
Palms’ Brenden Theatres also received a facelift. The 14-screen movieplex and IMAX experience features tiered stadium seating, luxury reclining leather seats, digital sound and giant wall-to-wall curved screens. The hotel features 260 rooms, 77 suites and six Sky Villas. The Sky Villas, the highest-category accommodations, sit on high floors and start at 6,100-square feet as well as include a private pool and butler service.
All rooms and suites are still undergoing a redesign by Avenue Interior Design. They will also be adding 60 new rooms. The room renovations will be fully completed by fall 2018. Some rooms and suites are available for booking for stays beginning this summer.
