Cannonbeard’s Treasure and Gamblit Poker are the skilled-based games at MGM Grand.

Gamblit Gaming, a developer of skill-based gaming machines, announced on Monday that it first two skill-based games were live at the MGM Grand. The machines are located in the LEVEL UP lounge at the MGM Grand.

Gamblit’s two games are Cannonbeard’s Treasure and Gamblit Poker. Each game provides a much different approach to skill-based gaming.

Gamblit Poker

Gamblit Poker is a variation on traditional poker, so it is works like a game of electronic poker. The game pits 2 to 4 players against each other in what is described as a “highly social, head to head interactive table experience”. The player with the best hand wins the pot, so a winner happens every hand. Gamblit Poker has RNG and Fee versions.

The game should not be confused with Gambling Poker Live!, which includes 2 to 6 players. Gambling Poker Live! is a card playing game, but it is also a button masher. Gamblit Poker and Cannonbeard’s Treasure are considered “Model G” games.

Cannonbeard’s Treasure

Cannonbeard’s Treasure is an adventure game involving several elements, including cards, naval war, and player skill. Cannonbeard’s Treasure sounds a lot like a resource allocation game, because players need to grab the cards they need the most. The first player to reach their objective receives a chest of gold. Like Gambling Poker, Cannonbeard’s Treasure also is available in RNG and Free versions.

Gamblit Treasure’s Tristation Games

Those unaware of the presence of Gambling Gaming should note that the developer has 10 games in its Gamblit Tristation collection: Lucky Words, Smoothie Blast, Into the Dead, Catapult King, Slice of Cake, Match 3volution, Jetpack Joyride, Breakneck, High Orbit, and Pinball Casino.

The Tristation games mostly are set to debut in 2017. The collection includes word games, match games, video pinball, 3rd-person shooters, and 1st-person shooters. Gamblit’s top game of the moment is Catapult King.

Darion Lowenstein on Level Up Lounge

Darion Lowenstein, the Chief Marketing Officer for Gamblit Gaming, said that the Level Up Lounge is the perfect venue for skill-based players. MGM Resorts opened the gaming lounge in order to attract a younger generation group of players.

Scott Sibella, MGM Grand’s president, said that the new games keep MGM Resorts’ game selection “fresh and exciting”. MGM Resorts, like all of the Las Vegas casino companies, must find a way to attract the millennial generation. Millennials make up the largest generation in American history, so their patronage is the key to growth in the coming years.

Harrah’s Lake Tahoe Debut

The Level Up Lounge debut is not the first appearance for Cannonbeard’s Treasure and Gamblit Poker. In April, Harrah’s Lake Tahoe casino debuted the games as a kind of test-run in the Nevada gaming market.

That introduces the likelihood that Caesars Entertainment might introduce Gamblit gaming machines into their Las Vegas casinos. Micholas Breaux-Fujita, Regional VP of Marketing for Caesars Entertainment, said the skill-based machines would bring a new group of players into the casino: millennials.

Competition among Friends

According to Mr. Breaux-Fujita, players in the younger generation want to play in groups with friends. The skill-based slots therefore produce a social gaming experience for millennials.

That is also the reason Gamblit creates video-game based gaming machines. Most millennials grew up with a video game console in their home. They’re also used to mobile games on their smartphone, so they want to play games which require quick reflexes and quick thinking. Contrary to stereotypes, millennials also want to play games with competition among players.
